Andrea Ellis
I’m a qualified BACP-registered therapist with a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling. I follow the BACP Ethical Framework, am insured with Holistic Insurance, have regular clinical supervision, and am committed to ongoing learning and ethical practice. I work with people in person in my cabin in Penryn, Cornwall, and with people on the phone or online, country-wide.
I volunteer with Cruse Bereavement and am trained in grief and loss, as well as trauma awareness. I am ASIST trained in suicide intervention and prevention. I have an enhanced DBS certificate.
What matters most to me is helping people reconnect with their own strength and sense of self. I hold a personal interest and a quiet personal connection to loss and grief. It helps me sit with others gently and with genuine understanding.
Person Centred Therapy
Person‑centred therapy is, at its heart, a relationship. Not a clinical process, not a set of techniques, but a warm, steady, human connection.
Person-centred therapy is built around three core qualities, not as techniques I use, but as ways of being with you.
I will try to understand your world as you experience it, rather than looking at it through my own eyes.
I will meet you with warmth, honesty and genuine presence.
And you will be welcomed as you are, without judgment, expectation or pressure to be anything other than yourself.
Sometimes, when we feel truly safe and present with another person, something deeper can happen. In counselling, this is sometimes referred to as relational depth. Those moments when you feel deeply heard, understood and met by another human being. It can be a powerful experience, particularly if you have spent much of your life feeling that parts of you needed to be hidden, changed or explained.
For me, counselling is not simply about sitting in a room and talking. It is about the therapeutic relationship we build together, a relationship where you can gradually feel safe enough to explore whatever you bring, at your own pace.
There is no agenda for who you should become, and I am not here to fix you or tell you what to do. I trust that, given the right relationship and the space to truly be yourself, you can begin to hear your own voice more clearly and discover what feels right for you.
Person-centred therapy isn't about changing who you are. It's about creating space for you to reconnect with who you already are, and perhaps to come home to yourself.

In Person
I meet with clients in person at my cabin located in Penryn, nestled in the woods on the outskirts of town. It offers parking and provides a quiet, calm, and peaceful environment. And it is filled with beautiful plants!
The Mill, College Hill, Penryn, TR10 8FNOn Line
Some of my clients prefer to have their sessions online. This can give the comfort and flexibility of being at home. This approach allows them to overcome time constraints related to their lifestyle or work commitments, as well as location barriers.
1:1 Online
Phone
Some of my clients prefer to have their sessions over the phone, as this provides them with freedom from time and location constraints. It also offers a level of anonymity if they desire. Additionally, some clients enjoy talking whilst walking their dog!
